Take a walk down Memory Lane
'These are brilliant! I’ve taken them to the dementia ward I volunteer on and it helps with conversation and engagement. Especially non verbal patients. Family can use it too!' (Amazon reviewer)
The Memory Lane series of picture books is aimed at patients with early stage dementia who like reading but find it hard to follow 'normal' books. With large print, short easy to follow paragraphs and plenty of illustrations, the books look at everyday life in the in the USA and Britain from the 1940s to the 1990s.
They are intended to help stimulate long-term memories of those who lived through those times, with books on music, films, cars, fashion and general topics. When read together with a relative or carer, they can also help promote conversation and reminiscence.
The books do not mention dementia or memory loss, or anything that could cause distress or embarrassment to patients, and are written in a simple but not childish style.
The books may be ordered through Amazon.

What the reviewers say:
'Got this as a present for my Grandad last year who was suffering from dementia... He cried and said he could remember his life when he flicked through the book, needless to say we all cried too... It was a beautiful moment and the perfect gift for him.'
